You’re never too young to acknowledge greatness, and 5-year-old Kaavia Union-Wade is paying tribute to one of her basketball heroes in style.
No, not her father, former NBA point guard Dwyane Wade. In a photo released on Dwyane’s Instagram Story, Kaavia is dressed for school in a T-shirt with print images of Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese.
The photographs show Reese on the court, as well as one of her famous tunnel fits. A pink Barbie lunchbox and bag round out the look. A remark on the Story that reads “We appreciate the package” implies that Reese personally sent them the trendy pink clothing.
Reese received wind of the story and sent the family some love back, adding “such a sweetie! “I love her.”
Though Reese is out for the rest of the Sky’s regular season due to a wrist injury that necessitated surgery, the WNBA rookie has not taken a break.
In the days following her surgery, which occurred on Tuesday, September 10, she has been supporting her teammates at practice and recording her new podcast, “Unapologetically Angel.”
Fans may watch the Sky play the Connecticut Sun in the last regular season game on Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET.
