Max Verstappen Says Miami GP Pole ‘Clearly’ Shows Fatherhood Hasn’t Slowed Him Down
After securing pole position at the Miami Grand Prix, Max Verstappen confidently shut down any speculation that becoming a father might affect his performance on the track. Speaking to reporters after the session, the three-time world champion said, “Taking pole here clearly shows that becoming a dad hasn’t reduced my speed. If anything, it’s given me more focus and motivation.”

Verstappen, who recently welcomed his first child with partner Kelly Piquet, has faced questions in recent weeks about whether fatherhood would change his mindset or priorities. But his dominant qualifying performance in Miami made it clear he remains as sharp and competitive as ever.
The Red Bull driver continued, “People like to assume that life changes like this take something away from your racing. But for me, it’s been the opposite. I feel more complete, more driven.”
Team principal Christian Horner also praised Verstappen’s performance, calling it “a statement of intent” and noting that Max is “as hungry for victory as he’s ever been.”

Verstappen’s pole lap was a reminder of his raw pace and precision, especially in a season where competition is tightening. With the Miami GP serving as a key moment in the championship battle, Verstappen’s message was clear: fatherhood hasn’t slowed him down — it may have even made him stronger.
All eyes will be on Sunday’s race to see if he can convert that pole into another dominant victory.
