In a gesture that combines sporting legacy with deep compassion, former Formula 1 World Champion Kimi Räikkönen and his wife Minttu Räikkönen have unveiled an ambitious plan to raise €200,000 for cancer research in Finland.
The couple will launch a two-week international charity auction featuring an extraordinary collection of signed F1 championship shirts, race-worn helmets, team apparel, and exclusive memorabilia spanning Kimi’s two-decade career in motorsport.
The auction will be hosted online in partnership with the Finnish Cancer Research Foundation, ensuring global accessibility for motorsport fans, collectors, and philanthropists alike.
Why This Cause Matters
While Kimi and Minttu have not shared a personal cancer story, their motivation comes from seeing the devastating impact of the disease in their homeland.
“This disease touches so many lives, in Finland and beyond,” said Kimi. “If I can use my career and my racing history to raise awareness and funds, then it’s the least I can do.”
Minttu added an emotional note:
“We have friends and family who have faced this battle. We know how important funding is, not just for treatment, but for hope. This is our way of showing that even after the racing stops, there are other important races to win.”
The memorabilia on offer is a dream come true for fans:
- Signed Ferrari race shirts from the 2007 season, when Räikkönen clinched his World Championship title.
- Race-worn helmets, each signed and inscribed with the year and race location.
- Official team jackets and gloves from his time with McLaren, Lotus, Ferrari, and Alfa Romeo.
- Rare pit-lane passes and photographs taken from inside the garages at some of F1’s most iconic circuits.
- A one-off replica of his 2007 World Championship trophy, gifted to him by Ferrari, will also be up for grabs.
Many of these items have never been made available to the public before and come directly from Kimi’s private collection, making them museum-worthy pieces.
Known as “The Iceman” for his calm and unflappable demeanor, Kimi Räikkönen is also one of Formula 1’s most universally admired figures. His career — marked by raw speed, sharp wit, and a famously minimalist approach to media — has earned him fans from every corner of the globe.
The auction is expected to draw competitive bidding from Europe, Asia, and the Americas, with collectors eager to secure a piece of F1 history while contributing to a life-saving cause.
Since retiring from Formula 1 in 2021, Kimi has largely stayed out of the public eye, focusing on his family life with Minttu and their two children. But this fundraising drive shows that while he may no longer be chasing lap times, he’s still ready to make an impact.
“Motorsport has given me incredible memories and opportunities,” Kimi reflected. “Now we have a chance to use that platform for something much bigger than sport.”

This auction is more than just a sale of collectibles — it’s a reminder of the power of sport to drive change.
