In a decisive pre-match move, Collingwood has made a key adjustment to its AFLW lineup ahead of the highly anticipated clash with Richmond, dropping a promising youngster while welcoming back a proven forward threat.
After featuring in the past two rounds against West Coast and St Kilda, young gun Eliza James has been omitted from the squad. Taking her place is Nell Morris-Dalton, who returns to strengthen the Magpies’ forward line. Her inclusion is expected to add both experience and goal sense as Collingwood prepares for a fierce contest against the Tigers.
Coach Sam Wright said the decision was made to bring more balance and versatility to the attacking setup.
“We’re managing a few tight bodies at this stage of the season and wanted to freshen up the forward structure. Nell’s energy, pressure, and marking ability make her a great fit for this week,” Wright explained.
Morris-Dalton, who last played in Round 7, has impressed with her work rate and forward pressure. Her return provides a welcome boost for Collingwood, which is determined to secure a crucial win as the finals race heats up.
James, meanwhile, has been named as an emergency alongside Alana Porter and Selena Karlson. The trio will remain on standby as the Magpies finalize their match-day lineup.
The match, set to take place at Victoria Park, carries added importance as part of the AFLW Pride Round, celebrating inclusion and diversity across the competition. Fans will be able to attend free of charge, with Collingwood opening the gates to create an electric atmosphere for the occasion.
With both sides vying for ladder position and pride on the line, Collingwood’s reshuffled forward line will face a strong test against Richmond’s resilient defense. The question remains — will the fresh injection of firepower from Morris-Dalton be enough to turn the tide in the Magpies’ favor?
