Angel Reese’s playing season was cut short due to injury, but that doesn’t mean the Chicago Sky star is done with basketball for the season, as she goes viral for a heated dispute with Teresa Weatherspoon.
It happened as she watched her teammates play against the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, September 15, where they lost 93-88 at the Wintrust Arena after leading at halftime.
The 22-year-old is currently sidelined due to a season-ending wrist injury that will require surgery to avoid arthritis. Despite this, she remains committed to helping her team reach the playoffs.
She is now an unofficial member of the coaching staff for the team based in the Windy City and was spotted in an intense conversation with her head coach during the Mercury game.
She finished her first season as a professional basketball player averaging 13.6 points per game, 13.1 rebounds per game, and 1.9 assists per game as a forward, and she was in the running for Rookie of the Year until Caitlin Clark’s phenomenal play since the All-Star break propelled her to the obvious favorite.
The Sky’s defeat puts their playoff hopes in jeopardy, as they are now tied with the Atlanta Dream and Washington Mystics with a.342 record before the WNBA postseason begins on September 22.
The Sky will face the Dream at the Gateway Center Arena on Tuesday, September 17, with tip-off at 19:30 ET/16:30 PT.
