In a post-game interview following the Indianapolis Colts’ disappointing 30-20 loss to the Houston Texans, rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson took responsibility for the team’s performance, pinpointing several key factors that contributed to the defeat.
Richardson, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 227 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, acknowledged that his early mistakes set a negative tone for the game. “I put the team in tough situations,” he said, reflecting on a crucial interception in the first quarter that allowed the Texans to take an early lead. “I need to be smarter with the ball and make better decisions under pressure.”
Despite his efforts to rally the team, Richardson admitted that inconsistency plagued their offensive execution. The Colts struggled to establish a rhythm, especially in the running game, which was held to just 90 yards. “We have to find ways to get the ground game going,” he emphasized. “It opens up the passing lanes and makes everything easier.”
Defensively, the Colts had their share of issues as well, allowing Texans rookie quarterback CJ Stroud to throw for 350 yards and three touchdowns. Richardson noted, “Our defense fought hard, but we need to complement each other better. It’s a team game, and we all have to do our part.”
